Hello aeronautics enthusiasts!!

 Good morning everyone,

This is my first blog on aviation and first of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Alejandro Esteve Mayans, I'm 21 years old and I live in Bunyola a charming village in the Sierra of Tramuntana. I've always been a great enthusiast of cars and on my free time I love listening to music and play the guitar. On the other hand, I'm a very curious person and a great learner, always wanting to learn new things. Since I was young, I always liked to help my father repairing things using all his tools.

While I was studying Bachiller I was not pretty sure about what it was going my next step. My father was already working as an Aircraft Mechanic and I really wanted to do the same but due to my good marks, all my teachers and familiars encourage me to start a career in the University

I started studying Physics in the UIB but as the time was passing, I wasn't liking as I expected. I decided moving to Engineer Electronics which was my second option when I started in the UIB. That same summer I searched for a job and tried to make up my mind of what will be my next step. I was liking more the engineer but once I started my job at the airport, I already knew the way I had to take

I started to work as a handling agent for Azul Handling which was the handling of Ryanair and Laudamotion. My duties consisted in check-in all passenger’s luggage and do the boardings in the terminal. The opportunity of working in the airport gave me a new view perspective about my future and as many people say, once you work in aviation you have two options: you love it or you hate it.

I had so much fun working at the airport, I meet new people from all around the world, I had the chance to work every day with different colleages and improve my english. Working face to face to public gives you the ability to express yourslef better and if you are a shy person to get loose. I still remember the night when we found a bachelorette kit in our last boarding. As there was no more work, we tried it on at the office, even the supervisor did it!

As I was liking aviation, I liked the idea of becoming a pilot, so I decided to make a new step to have the opportunity to earn more money. This new step was becoming an Air Hostess, also known as Cabin Crew. I did the course here in Mallorca from November to February and I really liked the course. I had the opportunity to make a lot of new friends and I really enjoyed what I was learning. We went to La Coruña to do all the exams and voilà! The same day of my birthday I became an Air Hostess, everything was going perfect.

Just a week later after becoming a cabin crew, I had an interview with Vueling and I was chosen for starting the new course in March. I went to Barcelona to do the OCC (Operator Conversion Course) and passed all the training with the best marks of the class. I was extremely happy with my results but just the last day of the course, the lockdown started in Spain. It was a shame that we lost the job, we were so close to start flying in the company. After all the effort, everything went down because of the covid but it wasn´t time to be sad and being stopped. Due to the lack of work I decided to do the thing that I just mentioned almost at the beginning, this was becoming an Aircraft Mechanic just like my father.

Here's where a new life becomes after trying the university and becoming a cabin crew. Here in Spain there's an expression which says: "A la tecera va la vencida". This means that at the third it is when you get lucky, so there we are in Globalia, Llucmajor. Here are the installations where we study to become an aircraft mechanic and where my father studied too. I'm quite happy to have this new opportunity and also to have the chance to have presential classes because nowadays with the covid most of the classes are online (which in my humble opinion are quite boring).

After the first week we had the opportunity to visit the hangar at the airport and see our future place of work. We also started to study some modules just like Turbojet Engines, Security, Tools, Materials and Aerodynamics. On one hand, most of them are quite interesting so the classes are more enjoyable but on the other hand, other ones are more though because the content it's only knowing rules or materials properties. One of my favourites modules for the moment are engines and aerodynamics but I must say that I'm very excited to start the practices at the workshop. I think that once we do some practices and classes the course will be more enjoyable.

We also have some classes from Son Pacs just like English, with my white hair teacher from bachiller, also known as Catherine, and EIE that for the moment seems interesting from my point of view. I think that from previous experiences of bachiller, our teachers are very pleased that all the students are seated separate to avoid chatting in class.

Last but not least, at the moment I'm quite happy with all our instructors and the teammates in class, I've already made new friendships and I'm quite excited to see what's for coming. I hope you enjoyed my first blog with the same enthusiasm with which I have written it.

See you on next week folks!
