Magic cube

Good morning my aeronautics enthusiasts, I know it’s been a few days more since my last blog. I usually publish them on Thursday but it has been a very hard week at the workshop. I had to charge batteries to write this new blog. That been said, I have many things to tell you about this week. As I mentioned in my previous blog, this week we started with something related with cubes. Maybe you still wondering that it’s all about but I will tell you all the necessary to understand everything. This practise consists in fabricating a cube from a cylinder of aluminium. When I first heard about this practise, was when my father told me before starting the course. As he did the course a few years ago, he already did this practise in the past and still preserve his cube. I must admit I was quite nervous as I never did such a complex and complicated task but also a little bit excited, notwithstanding here we start. First, we had to cut a slice of aluminium from a big cylinder of aluminium. As

Workshop Practises!

I think you’re getting tired with always the same intro but why not continue using it until I found a new one! So as every week, Good afternoon my aeronautics enthusiast! As always, I want to thank you all for all your big support and encouraging me to improve my blogs! After a few weeks going to the workshop and doing some practises, I thought you would like to know a little more about what we usually do.  As you all know, everyone in the class has his own toolbox so you could imagine that we use it a lot. Surprisingly, you are wrong. For the moment we haven’t touched a lot the toolbox and here’s why. For becoming a good mechanic first of all you need to have some basic knowledge. You cannot use tools for repairing things without knowing how everything works. This first month has been kind of “boring” because we had to write a lot in our practises book, but as I said before, we need to learn how everything works before touching it. I don’t know if I have mentioned it, but everything i

Good afternoon my aeronautics enthusiasts, After the great feedback I’ve received from my last blog I would like to thank you all for all your support! Every week I try to improve the quality and obviously to make them more entertain and interesting. After 3 weeks watching in class a video about a D-Check of a British Airways Boeing 747-400, I would like to tell you more interesting things about this inspection. In this video they explained all the process of the inspection since the plane arrive to the hangar and when it leaves it. But wait a moment…. I almost forgot to explain you what a D-Check is! For understanding a D-check you must know that airplanes have a maintenance plan. It’s almost like the manual maintenance of a car which says how often you need to replace parts or check the condition of it, the same thing happens with planes. When planes are at the hangar it can be because they need a reparation of a broken part caused while being operative or maybe they’re a completing
