Happy New 2022!

Good afternoon my aeronautics enthusiast, As you all know this is my first blog of this new year and I must confess that this is also my first blog written from another country. I’m quite excited for this new year because at almost at the end we will finish the course. That means that with a bit of luck we will be able to finally work as an aircraft mechanic. We can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Nevertheless, I want to tell you a little bit about my holidays. Due to the covid pandemic we haven’t been able to celebrate many things as the infections cases have grown too much in the past days. Notwithstanding, we managed to celebrate everything in our houses with the closest relatives of the house, this includes my father, my sister and my girlfriend. On Christmas Day I prepared some cheek in sauce very delicious with some fries and for starter food I prepared some prawns at the grill. They are very tasty and you always finish with your hands very dirty and an ea...

Last weeks of the year!

Good afternoon my aeronautics enthusiasts, It’s been a long time since my last blog but here we are again as always. We have been very busy at the workshop these days and we’ve done lot of practises related with hydraulic and pneumatic. Even we started practises related with electronics and we have been able to study the diodes and Zener diodes in real circuits. It’s kind of complex and as we haven’t done many things, I won’t talk about it in this blog. Notwithstanding, we will talk about the hydraulic and the pneumatic. Related with hydraulic we managed to power on the hydraulic pump of the Piper Seneca and it is primarily used for the brakes and the retraction of the landing gear. It is a very simple mechanism and very easy to see and understand. The hydraulic pump is in the front of the aircraft and it is powered on with a normal car battery of 12V. The practise consisted in checking the functioning of the landing gear and see if it retracts correctly. First of all, we managed t...

Legendary Hydraulic knowledge!

Good afternoon my aeronautics enthusiasts, It’s been two weeks since my last blog and that means that a lot of things have happened during this time. We did a lot of practises at the workshop and we also learnt new knowledge about the systems of the aircraft. One of the most interesting things we’ve done, has been related with the hydraulic system of the aircraft. As you all know, the hydraulic is very important in the aircraft because almost all of the moveable’s parts are moved with the hydraulic. Everything related with the flight controls, such as the elevators, flaps, slats, spoilers and even the retraction of the landing gear is hydraulic actuated. As you can see, a loss of hydraulic can cause the airplane to become uncontrollable and that’s why we have different system to avoid a total loss of the aircraft control. But, have you ever wondered from all this hydraulic pressure comes from? The two practises we did, were related with the generation of this pressure and how to ...

Maintenance practises are back!

Welcome back my aeronautics enthusiasts, In today’s blog we will talk again about some practises we’ve been doing at Globalia and a little bit about my life. After two weeks of doing classes, we finally had the opportunity to come back to the workshop. Until now, everything has been only classes and listening to the teachers but from now on, every weekend we have workshop activities until the course finishes. This weekend we have done many interesting things at the workshop. All of them have been related with the Cessna 441. This is due because it is the newest aircraft, and it is important to take care of him and restore it as soon as possible. The other two aircraft are very old, and corrosion are killing them slowly. That’s what we want to prevent to happen on the Cessna. One of the first practises that we did, was doing the weight and balance of the aircraft already explained on the last blog. For doing this we used some weighing machines and the help of all the students...
